Lilac Cottage

Whilst working at GRT Architecture in Wirksworth I designed a two-storey extension to a stone cottage built into a steep slope in Matlock.

The addition is subtly modern, broken away from the existing cottage with a two-storey link structure and corner glazing at ground floor level to give the client views out over her extensive terraced gardens. The existing cottage will be overhauled to make it watertight, but internal features retained where possible so its character remains intact.
